Spiritual Development

What is Spiritual Development?

At St. Peter’s we understand that children are inherently spiritual: they delight in all things; they have a sense of awe and wonder about the world and the things that they learn; they are inquisitive about our culture and the cultures of others; they demand to know more about the values and beliefs of others; they are developing a sense of their spiritual selves, exploring who they are as individuals and where they fit in the world and they fundamentally care about the world and all who inhabit it.

How do we support pupils to develop spiritually?

Because of this, we believe that our role in supporting our learners to develop spiritually is to provide them with a wide range of opportunities to explore and express their spirituality through the curriculum and beyond. This page showcases some of the opportunities we have shared with our learners so far this year to:

  • Experience fascination, awe and wonder;
  • Explore the values and beliefs of others;
  • Understand themselves as unique individuals;
  • Understand and respond to human feelings and emotions;
  • Express themselves imaginatively and creatively.
